A terrific 1971 442/455 W25/W30 Cutlass convertible restored to very nice, top driven show standards with a correct 455cid engine with casting number 396021F, outstanding underchassis work just completed for top driving abilities, this 1971 442/455 Convertible for sale was built from an original 350cid Supreme convertible, has the proper red inner fenders and the rare Olds aluminum '455' intake are used only as the W30 442/455 would have, proper Ram Air working intake, a really nice Matador Red paint with FANTASTIC LUSTER set off by the white pin stripes and rear spoiler that have an outstanding and aggressive look, the great body lines couple the white bucket seated with console interior, full optional power equipment, has a new white top, well and 'glass' window are new, the work includes a frame-on restoration that is documented with fresh floors and suspension, extremely solid and nice underchassis, the driving abilities with the work on chassis yields a car that is most solid and drives exceptionally, has the important and hard to get W25 hood with white stripe that is made of fiberglass with steel reinforcement, it looks great and is most valuable today, correct rear spoiler, dual outside sport mirrors, correct W30 package that includes the W25 hood, has the chrome hood tie downs plus the proper hood release, brand new 4-row radiator, flapper air cleaner system from the hood to intake for the 4v carberator, this 455cid unit has been rebuilt with compression of 156 to 162 lbs in a cold reading, this shows how strong this engine is to be within 6 lbs across, with the proper heads and aluminum '455' intake, this engine should produce the 360 horsepower and almost 500 lbs of torque, has the proper exhaust manifolds, has the excellent 4v carberator, when driven to its first show in Summer 2008, the power of the car was awesome and smooth at the same time, people love the red plastic inner fenders, the white interior looks great, power steering, power brakes with front factory discs, power windows and power door locks, new power White top, working Air Conditioning upgraded to 134a that is checked for Summer 2008, automatic 3 speed transmission, the kick down on the trans was just installed to work properly for Summer 2008, hard to get this piece today, desirable His/Hers shifter on the console, the new black carpeting is shown, the white bucket seats are redone with new padding, the backs are excellent, the rear seats are redone too, the door panels front and rear are redone, has the proper 'wood' trim and carpet, pull handles, the dash pad and pod look great, terrific black dash pad, the 'wood' fascia is done on the dash, the windows and seals are nicely done, many other options include cruise control (that has not been checked), rare and expensive factory 8 track system, choice of radios of newer or stock unit, power trunk release, this 1971 Cutlass 442/455 convertible is taken from a 350cid convertible with VIN#342671M210587 with the initial work of the build and restoration done by a serious Cutlass collector who had previously had a 1970 442 Pace Car convertible that was finished by Fraser Dante in 2007 for showing, please note, when received by Fraser Dante in Spring 2008, the underchassis needed some work to bring up to the high standards of the rest of the car and to those of Fraser Dante (SEE LINK), these floors and chassis are upgraded with a file to show the excellent work, the frame was stripped to the metal, ground down, any spots in the frame were fixed for looks and safety, then POR15 was used to seal and keep solid, then they were painted with satin black to give a good look for show, then the new steel floors were put in, these were welded in by a top expert, Fraser Dante has spent great effort with all new floors from the back seat forward to seal them and prime, then painted black, all of this process is documented for future investment, at that time, all new stainless steel fuel lines used, new fuel tank were installed, new brake lines were added, suspension checked with new shocks all around, all bushings checked, front steering parts are fresh, has the proper front heavy duty sway bar, rear control arms are boxed and also features a rear sway bar as the 442 W30, upper and lower trailing arms to insure fine handling and safety, would have had originally, thusly, this 442/455 is equipped with the factory boxed rear control arms, both front and rear sway bars with new sway bar bushings and end link kits give this outstanding handling of the 442 with alignment to finish the driving abilities, the power brakes checked with new front pads, detailed master cylinder and power brake booster, rear brakes are fully checked, brakes are blend and tested for safety, this work is to achieve the same scenario that gives fine history of a solid car, all of this work is documented with photos that will show the solid steel before being painted black, (SEE LINK), great effort is spent in making this just like a factory car that is equipped with lots of options that are desired to make this a driven show car that can be enjoyed today, items like the hood with the flapper Ram Air system are hard to accomplish and give the car great power and strong torque, the look along with the rear wing and 442 badging yield a very aggressive car that is also easy to drive, working factory air conditioning just checked to make sure it works well, this model run of the 1970 to 1972 were a wonderful popular car in the 70's and a top collector car for the new millennium, this last restoration yields top mechanicals so it is a driven show car, really beautiful paint with correct optional 442 white hood striping sets off well, great effort was made to the correct white contrasting striping to be as factory with final buffing and touch up to make this winner in your local show, work includes a full tune and complete fluids, expensive show radiator cap, show fantastic complete detailing of engine compartment has been done to show standards checked by our BOP expert, extensive engine work includes all belts, hoses, clamps, spark plugs and new wires, wiring completely checked, extensive photo documentation shows complete work, excellent brand new aluminized dual exhaust 2 ¼" system with new standard 442 mufflers are installed for a nice mellow sound, (SEE LINK), one could have these changed to the new Flowmaster Series 44 for a slight fee, wonderful underchassis, door jams, trunk detailed, really nice floors with fresh paint detailing, nice chrome including correct full wheel moldings, the whole white interior is in fine condition, all new felts and rubbers in the doors and windows just added, very good window inside cranks, excellent outside door handles, new full black carpet, new tinted windshield, factory sport steering wheel, the dash gauges in fine shape, wood trim good, new trunk rubber replaced, correct trunk mat, proper trunk splatter, jack, tool, tie down, when the new white power top and glass window were installed for Summer 2008, the top frame has been sanded, primed and painted with new rubber weather stripping before new top and pads are installed (LINK), the rubber top seals are new in this installation, has a white boot, factory Super Sport III body colored wheels were restored from original wheels, the wheels are correct restored GM Cutlass SS IIIs that were stripped and then painted body color, then primed, painted body color and clear coated, the proper chrome rings in the five holes were done, outside trim rings and then the proper center cap, this is a difficult and expensive process, excellent 215/70/14 Cooper Classic GT radials, alignment just completed to make sure this tracks straight, dual sport mirrors, rear springs good, front fine, all shocks new, power steering checked fine with dual new hoses, proper 442 rear bumper looks great, front bumper also same condition, this has both the front and rear bumper guards, proper sized radial white wall tires are mounted and balanced, note the final buffing by a top professional is finished for July 4th weekend of 2008 (SEE LINK) that makes this paint just glisten in the sun, with the really nice chrome and the new white top, this is a great appearing car for a Summer show, there is a large file of photos and receipts that document much of the restoration, a terrific amount of work that makes this Cutlass ready for driven show for Summer 2008, a very fair price at $42,950
