Very nice 1971 Cutlass 442/455 Convertible in factory rich Bittersweet color with the 442 White center stripes, white bucket seated interior, brand new white top, glass rear window, white boot, has the freshly built built 396021F, 455cid V8 engine, 4v Rochester Quadrajet carberator, proper air induction system, intake is 404521 D1, heads are 'E' cfd 408686, freshly detailed, driven to local shows, note that only 1304 '442' convertibles were produced in 1971 as shown by the VIN#344671M122999, datatag information, really great body, proper black plastic inner fenders, the underchassis of the car is exceptionally solid that is hard to find, then nicely detailed for top driven show condition, has power steering, power disc brakes, the dash pod nicely detailed, rare working factory tachometer, working factory air conditioning system, this rebuilt, very strong 455cid engine is the high performance 1970 units that have the most power as horsepower rating is concerned, see NUMBERS, really excellent compression that is noted, engine has a really nice 'rumble' yielding an opinion of perhaps being the full '70 build of 365 horsepower, sounds and performs outstandingly, terrific torque of about 500 lbs, very nicely detailed engine bay just completed for driven show (SEE LINK) that took great effort, outstanding suspension, original floors that have been nicely detailed, expensive hand bent, new aluminized dual exhaust system with Flowmaster Series 44s just installed, these have the best mellow sound while yielding more power, excellent 442 proper suspension, great effort is made to make this restoration fresh so this 442 Convertible can be enjoyed immediately, this 1971 OLDSMOBILE 442 CONVERTIBLE FOR SALE has an outstanding presentation in both cosmetics and mechanicals, this Bittersweet color is very, very pretty, looks like a brand new penny in the sunlight, contrasted to the white trim of the hood along with the interior and top, these colors really complement each other, one of the high points are how solid the floors and frame rails are, very original very nice underchassis that is detailed to a very, very nice degree yielding information on the solid state of this car, Air Conditioning just checked with uprated with working134a, factory wiring diagram, all of this work is finished for Fall 2010 showing, hard to find such an original and fine solid chassis, automatic transmission (with '71 'OG') on the side and works great in road test, fluid check, these systems take a great deal of expertise, the white bucket interior finished to proper standards both front and rear, nice padding, full console, correct wood shift handle, an original Owner's Manual and plastic dealer packet and other documentation yield some history of this cars, this 455cid engine was installed when found from a North Georgia owner found this car for his family's use, then Fraser Dante bought the car and finished the restoration over a period of time, Fraser Dante fully checked the engine to find out about its condition, effort is spent to show the 'numbers' of the '70 heads, the proper intake, and the terrific compression (SEE LINK FOR COMPRESSION), it is believed that the horsepower should be above the '71 rating to be over the 350 level as the heads and the cam sound like at least the 365 horsepower and the 500 lbs of torque for the 1970 era, the engine is rebuilt with excellent compression with 176 to 184 lbs with cold dry reading just taken, the Rochester 4v Quadrajet carberator remanufactured, numbers show as 704 2251 RE, a tech just checked this carb and all the timing to make sure the 442 runs excellent, has exhaust manifolds are GM 38001LH D4 seen on the driver's side with too much equipment to see the numbers on the passenger side, these connect to brand new, expensive aluminized 2 ½" exhaust system with the new Flowmaster Series Super 44s just installed for great looks and nice mellow sound (SEE LINK FOR SPECS), fresh 7mm spark plug wires, tune just completed, Harrison 4 row radiator just pulled and rebuilt by a top radiator shop in Atlanta, to make sure the big block 455cid works well with the air conditioning (SEE LINK), flushed with new coolant in the process, with the dimensions of 19"x34", this large radiator has retained the valuable original tanks, the full radiator lower area was detailed and painted, then all new hoses, belts and clamps were installed, all of this work is receipted, really an excellent body with extremely nice rear quarters, very solid and original underchassis, note that preparation work shows that all the floors are original, (LINK to Exhaust and Solid Underchassis), when initially prepared, only a very, very small place under the driver's footwell of a tiny area that was just fixed in the underchassis, this is assumed only from the wet driver's shoes through the years, after the small patch was fixed so it is invisible, the floors were cleaned, primed and painted black to show their excellent condition, the frame was stripped to metal and painted black, has the proper front and rear sway bars, the rear trailing arms are boxed (SEE PHOTO LINK), to make sure this handles well for the strong engine performance, all the brakes are checked with the front discs working great, has four new SensaTrac heavy duty shocks just installed (LINK), the front tie rod ends and other suspension pieces are in fine shape, full alignment and specs in the file just completed, a top transmission shop just installed a new rear transmission seal and speedometer seal with receipts, this is in a strong effort to make this free from leakage, important in a convertible that can be enjoyed, very nice chrome throughout with proper front and notched rear bumpers for a 442, dash is very nice as factory, has the working tachometer, all the gauges work, very good pad, tinted front glass, fully detailed trunk, has desirable five Super Sport III body colored wheels correct for car, nice Firehawk Indy 500 white lettered 225/70/14 radial tires, the trunk area is extremely solid, factory finish, matching valuable SSIII body colored spare, jack, the car looks great with the white interior that contrasts the Bittersweet one year color, perhaps the very, very good white interior is factory, could be a 88,700 mile car from new, has a brand new boot and brand new expensive Kee top, pads and expensive 'glass' rear window just installed, even the top frame rails have been stripped, then painted (SEE LINK) before the pads and top went on, the interior side panels are in really fine condition, new black carpets, the black windshield dash pad is terrific, has the stock Olds radio, the center console is believed original and in fine condition, this shows how well this car has been kept in its life, even has the factory sticker of instructions inside the door of the glove box, many original operational items, ie. buzzer system works as factory, interior lights work, very unusual for a car this age to have all these items working, lots of effort went into the final detail of the body and paint, top touch up expert did the paint followed with a highly professional 'finisher' to bring out the gloss in the paint (BUFFING), the headlights are modern sealed beam, the transmission is checked by an Atlanta shop for leaks and performance for top driving abilities, then a new alternator is just installed to make sure the lighting system works as it should as well as making the engine look terrific, note the brake lights and turn signals work, the file has many photos, numbers and receipts that document this 442/455 convertible, lot of effort just completed and really set with all upgrades for top show driving as finished to enjoy with a powerful convertible with air conditioning just checked, brochure, $35,950
