Driving abilities: note that this was taken on an aggressive test driven on July 28, 2010 in 90o heat by Fraser Dante to checked running condidition, performed admirably with excellent cooling under these conditions, this is equipped with the four speed Muncie transmission with the assumed low 2.54:1 first gear, the coding is for a ’71-’74 unit which is very strong, this transmission was gone thought by a transmission specialist with new synchronizes for great shifting and driving, great effort is made to make sure the car drives as well as it looks, this has the Hurst shifter linkage to make this shift well with the stock factory shifter with chrome ball to look original,
BODY: the paint color that shows just terrific is a DuPont Chroma Premier Torch Red, this is a pretty bright Corvette color, just
outstanding, on the data tag shows this was a black car originally, body is just great with the paint is really beautiful, the sides are very straight, this paint is just buffed and polished by a top professional for Summer 2010 show season, any minor touch ups were completed for showroom appearance, it appears that all the floors are in great shape, they are painted gloss black to show how nice they are, three of the floor boards were replaced in a factory manner with the passenger side being original, this was to make sure the car is rust free, the floors today are top driven show, painted black without undercoating and waxed to show their fine condition (LINK TO UNDERCHASSIS), the fenders are original, the rear quarters were done but it is hard to find as the seams are filled, the spackle done, the body panels are straight as an arrow, the glass is great,INTERIOR: windows roll up fine, tinted windshield, the full new red interior has been completely done, gorgeous full red correct bucket seats as new, all the padding is done, new red carpets with proper seaming, full new red side panels with proper trim, full correct red headliner beautifully done, rear package shelf new, all seals and rubbers redone, GM safety belts both front and rear that have the proper side rollers, these have been restored with GM chrome clasps and Ssnake Oil red belts, the door sills are GM new, correct rare working ‘blinker’ tachometer mounted on the left side of the dash, the dash and gauges are fresh, they work, the radio is a Kenwood the dash is redone as factory, has an Chevelle aftermarket radio, sound system in stock location, has the original steering wheel in red to match the beautiful red bucket seated interior, one could have a wood wheel if so desired and that could be negotiated with pricing, has the 4-speed factory console in excellent condition, the factory clock is on console, this even works at present, tinted front windshield, day/night mirror, note: in the final test drive completed July 30, 2010, the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, water temperature gauge, clock on console, oil pressure all worked, the amp meter is a light,
ENGINE/TRANSMISSION: see the attached number sheet (LINK) to show what is found with the Chevelle today, the four speed transmission has the correct 4-speed markings on console, the transmission was rebuilt by a retired technician in Atlanta according to the last owner, this has a 1969 Corvette 454 block completely redone, casting 3963512, date code G119, believed at 375 to 400 horsepower today, the engine is very fresh, according to the builder, the Keith Black pistons are +.30 over so this is a massive engine, the crank is turned, 2 bolt mains, fresh bearings, all rods and internal work were completely done by a speed shop to high specs, the engine is balanced for great performance, has a brand new uprated Comp Xtreme CCA-CL11-283-3 camshaft kit just installed (SEE LINK), with matching roller thrust bearing for very smooth and strong, strong performance (see LINK FOR WORK), mid-range cam with 504/510 lift, these Comp Xtreme cams give a “faster intake valve opening to increase the engine vacuum and enhance throttle response”, the carberator is Holley 4v 750cfm with electric choke, the intake is an Edelbrock Performer, new K&N element in chrome air filter, the engine was just tuned with all the noted work just completed, has completely rebuilt oval port heads have fresh hydraulic lifters, ready for top performance for the Fall 2010 show season, the chrome correct valve covers are new, the engine has a great rumble, stampings on the block show 3963512, date G119, the ceramic Hooker exhaust headers are fresh from the installation, note the 2 ½” exhaust with 40 Series Flowmaster mufflers, these exit in the side of the rear quarters, look and sound great, has a HEI ignition, Accel coil, has the Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, has the Edelbrock carberator, has the K&N filter in the chrome air cleaner, the 4v carburetor has just been set, to make sure that this terrific muscle car works well, great effort is made with a great cooling 3 row radiator with a fan shroud that performs perfectly in 90o heat,
A new rear main seal was recently installed to stop any minor leaking as the final preparation is completed so this car is ready for driven show, after the July 90o test drive, the morning of July 29, 2010 found the floor under the car completely dry, fresh spark plugs, corded spark plug wires, has fresh spark plugs, the GM hoses are new, the belts are new, the oil and filter are fresh, note that the exhaust headers are detailed, great engine bay, link to transmission and axle numbers ,
BRAKES & SUSPENSION: the rear end gear is a fresh 12 bolt 3.73:1 positraction unit that couples with the believed low 2.54 first gear to make this driven exceptionally, great effort is made for terrific handling as this has the large rear sway bar for great handling, also has the front sway bar, the springs around are new heavy duty Moog station wagon units, this all was done in the initial restoration, the rear brakes on the rear axle are just done, also, the front brakes are new discs, the calipers, pads and lines are new with approximately 1500 miles and fully checked for Summer 2010, (SEE LINK), the rear brake drums were just completely rebuilt with drums and shoes, this is to make sure the car stops well, the rear anodized sway bar (LINK), along with the heavy duty front sway bar and the radials leads to superior handling, this a great car to drive,
this has very desirable working power steering, the great inner fenders with fresh bolts inside the engine compartment are terrific, all chrome around the car are as new, all the door handles inside and out are new, see the nice rear taillight bezels, all the stainless trim pieces and the SS rear black valence are very nice, fully done, the factory Super Sport chrome pieces on the hood are great, even the wheel well moldings are new, the beautiful chrome bumpers front and rear are fresh, all
SS 396 emblems around the car are correct along with new fender trim rings, the lower full rocker moldings are new, the chrome around the car is new, all bushings, tie rods and other suspension pieces look great, fresh work on the large proper front sway bar, again, note that the full braking system is checked and they are excellent, the trunk is extremely solid, painted with factory spackle, full trunk mat, jack and spare tire with cover, all four headlights and driving lights are redone and work, headlights can be T3s or with the new halogen that are used today at the owner’s requestChevrolet ‘bowtie’ left and right side outside mirrors, note on the underside of the car that the gas lines are new, the brake lines are new, bolts under the car are new, the new wheels are Ralleys 15x8 all around, the fronts are set in ½” so that they clear the fender well and give a stock appearance while yielding great handling, the trim rings are just polished for showing, this has brand, 15x8 Ralley wheels properly painted gray, they even have gloss paint to protect and look great, proper center caps, trim rings, excellent B.F.Goodrich 225/70/15 Radial TAs are iInstalled with about 1500 miles, due to the age of the vehicle, the above information cannot be verified as factory or actual build ‘numbers’ or authentic but only as what has been viewed and presented as to best of our knowledge, very seldom is so much information available, this car is very, very nice as performance show car, $39,950
