History: from information provided from the last owner, this VIN#5R09A178493 was initially restored in Georgia, then found at a show where it was acquired by a Louisiana Mustang collector and MCA member, being a professional interior man, his shop then redid the whole interior with upgrades for MCA shows, the Red bucketed seated interior is very new and fresh, all the red seats are padded well, the fold down rear has new seat material, has excellent new red carpet and the chrome fold down hinges are also new that is very hard to do, the headliner is in great condition and is white with note that it is very hard to accomplish such work as was done by a true professional and a MCA member, all the door handles both inner and outer are new as well as the window cranks, the factory side door sills have the MCA approved outside chrome added, new red 80/20 loop carpet, special Mustang floor mats, the dash bezel is terrific, Mustang AM-FM radio in the stock location, has the full restored very valuable factory console, the rare 1965 Rally Pac has the working tachometer and is very desirable and expensive, very hard to find in this condition, nicely restored red matching steering wheel, has an Owner’s Manual that has stamped “Fourth Printing-August 1964-Ford Motor Company”(SEE LINK),
this Rangoon Red paint has gone through a full paint and body restoration that yields great luster and very straight sides, exceptional detailing was just completed as this won First Place in the Driven Show car class at Pensacola this Spring, then after that award, this was driven home to Louisiana showing its fine mechanical condition, then, this was sent to Atlanta via enclosed transporter for the additional preparation that is accomplished
Engine: this engine just sounds ‘crisp’ with excellent compression, this rebuilt 289cid engine with about 2500 miles on the build has excellent compression of 156 to 162 lbs on a cold, dry reading, (SEE LINK), it is noted that the date codes are even correct in the hydraulic lifter heads, the heads are stamped ‘289 6.C.11’ and ‘289 6.B.28’, we figure that this block was decked with the signs of the work on the front pad, this leads us to believe that this work was completed to mate the heads and the block fit perfectly while also making the compression high and even, this top quality Mustang is ready for a proven constant strong and reliable performer with shown road trip just completed, with careful examination of engine condition, a very expensive, restored 4v Autolite 4100 original dated carberator is installed and adjusted, MCA Cobra kit with proper Cobra valve covers, valve covers off (SEE LINK),white air filter under hood, Ford dated ‘C5’ intake manifold, fresh Autolite spark plugs, new rotor and cap, timing set, also brand new expensive MCA Autolite positive and negative battery cables, fresh Motorcraft battery to make sure this ‘fires’ correctly,
at Fraser Dante for this top show condition to brought to even higher standards, this paint was correctly done with a single stage process, hours and hours were spent in Atlanta with a top professional ‘finisher’ to bring out the paint to spectacular finish and red color (LINK), this very nice car just finished with emphasis on being a top driven show car with excellent body and beautiful paint that is just finished with final professional buffing by a top professional by Fraser Dante to bring up the fantastic luster, has the front GT lights, rear GT exhaust tips that adds to the GT aggressive ‘look’,has the new expensive exhaust system that features the desirable, hard to fit ‘Tri-Y’ headers that are connected to full hand crafted dual aluminized exhaust system with ‘H’ pipe and fresh mufflers just installed, hand done work just completed for Summer 2011, this exhaust should yield about 235 horsepower today, this engine is fresh, authentic and sounds awesome, the Ford Performance dress up kit makes this look great, has a 3 row radiator removed and sent out to a top shop for full rebuild, fresh coolant just added, a top Senior Tech at Fraser Dante has tuned this 2+2 for great street enjoyment, all for top cooling with serious effort to accomplish a great ‘driver’, excellent stock linkage Mustang shifter that is fitted to the C4 automatic transmission, the transmission shifts just great, full new heater box assembly and heater core was furnished by the last owner, a new fuel tank was used in the restoration for fresh fuel, the final engine detail work shows the recent paint of the black engine for the Cobra kit, the inner fender bolts just put through the bead blaster to bring to show natural color, the hood closure was also put through the same process, this has the windshield washer system for showing, under hood the radiator hoses are FOMOCO with tower clamps, expensive battery cables with show ‘cut off’ and new battery,
Suspension: a great feature is new front ’67 dual line GT discs brakes that are an added feature for safety in driving, the front pads are new, the rear drum brakes have just been gone through, (SEE LINK) the front and rear KYB shocks are new, this features the larger Shelby 1” front sway bar for better handling, the steering box is just checked to make sure the car handles well, the control arms are two tone, (SEE LINK TO UNDERCHASSIS), the upper and lower ball joints are fresh, inner and outer tie rod ends and with center link fresh in the build, (LINK), the alignment just finished with specs supplied, with the outstanding modern radial tire called Grand Prix Performance GTs radials, these 205/70/14 have had the red lines added for the ‘stock’ look with excellent driving abilities, again, the disc braking system is the desirable ’67 dual line master cylinder, new pads in front brakes just completed,
Trunk/Trim: the trim around the 2+2 is great, the very hard to accomplish front window and rear window stainless moldings are in extremely fine condition, the rear is especially hard to find this nice with close up photos (SEE LINK) the front vent window chrome also looks great, this piece is a bear to do, the trunk is fully detailed, one can see photos of the red inner fenders and the trunk floor with the mat out, then the new fuel tank is shown, final photos show the correct plaid mat, spare wheel and tire and jack, note that the rear vertical trunk outside fuel cap guard (SEE CLOSE UP) that was a dealer add on option, this was for extra chrome piece for looks and protection, the chrome bumpers front and rear are new, the lower stainless rocker moldings are hard to install and these are nicely done, these add to the great look of the 2+2 fastback, looks very period,
Summary: the inside dash area has the proper Red steering wheel that is finished to match the full Red with White headliner interior, new dash bezel, all the lights have been checked and are working along with the turn signals and brake lights, full check of all systems by a top experienced technician, these are the type specifications that Europeans demand to enjoy their classic cars, i.e., all redone in show condition while yielding excellent mechanicals, has the GT front lights and the rear GT valence for the dual exhaust system, note that all the chrome and trim are fresh, new bumpers, the really, really nice 2+2 has been a proven show winner even before Fraser Dante took this to the higher level, the shop at Fraser Dante accomplished great effort for Summer 2012 to make a top driven performance show car that has been toughly tested for driving along with great ‘eyes’ for show presentation, $38,950
