1964 Rally Red Corvette convertible with low mileage as believed as 45,573 from new, true investment show condition, 327cid, 300 horsepower with full matching numbers and date code castings, under the hood is original, just cleaned through the years, 4-speed transmission, here is presented a rare Corvette that is very original and stock, from careful examination, this is a top, top chassis that shows care for many years, the unmolested body is in wonderful condition, great history has many documents, SEE THE MANY LINKS FOR DOCUMENTATION, same original owners until 2000, one other collector and then in the Sam Pierce private collection from 2005 until the Fraser Dante fresh presentation and detailing for Summer 2012, the beautiful Red paint is in exceptional condition with only the deck lid being painted from new, the inner fenders that remain a strong investment criteria and are ‘as factory’, the Red interior is as produced and far better than one would expect, original carpet, beautiful chrome bumpers, mechanicals shows matching numbered engine, dated correctly, dated correct heads, proper intake, the attached number sheet LINK gives the full details of date codes of various components that add value to this car, said sheet has very important codes and dates, beautiful paint and body with a few touchups as this is very rare having so much original paint adds to the investment value of this mid-year Corvette,

the VIN #40867S114630 shows that this 1964 convertible was produced in April 1964, has the photo of the original owners (LINK), the registration and insurance documents yield history, the mechanicals and fluids are just set up in top order, this is set up for driving enjoyment to be a NCRS SECOND FLIGHT preparation, a real driven show car, owner protection plan (LINK),

history: Sam Pierce had this in his personal collection for 7 years, note the very old Delco spark plugs had been in for years, these are not even made any more, (SEE LINK), this shows this was truly a collector car, the original steel wheels have been lost through the years, this now equipped with 1964 knockoffs and Goodyear 205/75/15 radial tires, one could change to show tires that look good but not drive as well as this setup, this Corvette really has top mechanicals with the engine just ‘purring’, the very original body and no damage to the front or rear fenders, the underchassis simply looks like factory, clean lower fiberglass, the solid frame is very, very nice, unmolested, the paint is most unusual, it is believed that only the rear deck lid behind the seats was painted, this is because the red body colored hard top most likely was left on for a while, now it suggested to keep on a top roller, again, the inner fenders are as factory and exceptional with extremely smooth lips,

Engine-transmission: the VIN 4114630/F0311RD stamped on it, the casting 3782870 is correct, the date code C.9.4 of the block is March 9, 1964, it is a 327 with 300 horsepower, this would be a correct date code for the manufacture of the car, the intake #3844459/a.20.4 is correct, the carberator is a correct Carter, the heads are correct and date coded, extensive time has been spent with the ‘numbers’ on this car to find its history (SEE LINK), note that this very rare Corvette has the distinction of having wonderful engine compression of 153 to 164 lbs in a dry cold reading just taken (LINK), engine is believed never out of the car and physical visual condition verifies, it would be a new owners choice to detail the engine, it is very clean right now with all ‘as factory’ presentation, would think more valuable for the NCRS standards,

note that the old spark plug wires simply were not in good condition from age, for Summer 2012, a fresh set of plug wires was installed that took considerable effort as one must use a lift just to get correctly in, then the chrome ignition shielding is re-installed, the coolant has been checked to -43o, again, the engine bay is simply cleaned through the years, no paint work and upgrading through the years, rare like this,

the transmission has the right casting and the VIN # on it, the 3.08:1 positraction rear end would be correct for this engine/transmission combination, the date of this rear end gear is perfect for the car, has the packing and lube checked, now a fresh tune, spark plugs, oil, filter, hoses and clamps are just done,

running condition: since this car had sat for many years as an investment, collector piece, all the brakes are just rebuilt using riveted shoes, the drums are turned, hardware, all the brakes bled, backing plates detailed, photos show the car on the rack May 2012 (LINK), then then new brakes are installed, the dual exhaust system is now aluminized pipes with new rear mufflers since the original steel pipes simply got old, the  shocks are pretty new, fronts are replacements and the rears are Monroe air units for great and smooth driving,

Important item: note that the red carpet, seat belts and floor mats are believed original, all the trim around the car is very nice, the original header stainless strip is just polished, windshield and all the glass are nice, this has a red hardtop and a white softtop, the oil, filter, spark plugs and coolant are just done for great driving,

Summary: it is believed the bushings in the front ‘A’ arms are original and do not need replacing, the driving is simple and easy and drives well, the 4 speed transmission makes this a easy car to drive, correct chrome shifter with lockout, works as it should, the Fraser Dante techs have set this up for excellent show driving, this a good looking, fun car to drive, extremely solid with really great ‘eyes’ that many people like, SEE THE MANY LINKS FOR DOCUMENTATION, insurance with proper values would be very important as it is very hard to find such an original midyear Corvette convertible, all of the preparation work is done for Summer 2012 shows, $52,950
