1960 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 BT7 MARK I in gorgeous Colorado Red in a gorgeous presentation, new leather biscuit interior just outstanding condition, full Atlanta 3-0wner documented history and believed original 51,375 miles from new, build is confirmed with the British Heritage Trust Certification is part of the package (LINK),  extremely top mechanicals, has a fresh updated interior, dash, proper factory adjustable steering wheel, heater, tonneau cover, new top and supports, original spare tire and hammer are all there, with beautiful restoration of the fresh excellent paint with terrific luster, rare FULL documented history of VIN#HBT7L/5331, this 6 cylinder, strong, original matching 3SW engine has 124 horsepower with powerful torque, excellent compression, full tune and road test, the engine bay is nicely detailed, the dual carb version works as it should,  see the important list of all the engine and head numbers (LINK) that are most important for certification and value,

History:  very seldom does one find such solid documentation of a classic vehicle’s history, Bill of Sale to second owner, (LINK), 1962 Georgia Title, (LINK), license plate from 1968, (LINK), original Austin Healey 3000 Driver’s Handbook, lots of receipts on recent work, (LINKS), these documents couple the British Trust for history, note that this design era shows that externally the main changes introduced with the BT7 were a vertical barred front grille, the high design flat windscreen, this car came with the believed original front windshield that had a very small crack, this unit is saved as an expensive brand new windscreen is just installed with the full new rubber insulation and chrome trim that took expert knowledge to complete for Christmas 2011,

this Healey has original chrome bumpers that have  period 1960 parking decals still on the bumpers, the 4-speed transmission is fitted with working overdrive, has new leather interior with collector car quality, excellent glass and body panel fit, all service up to date, 165x15 Michelin XZX tires with proper, dated painted wire wheels recently balanced, these wheels are very rare, the spare tire is believed original as it does not even have DOT numbers showing its early production, the biscuit new top as new with clear rear plastic, has the rare original and repainted hardtop that has the original plastic rear window from new, the underchassis is most solid, nicely detailed for top driven show condition, proper muffler system with hangers, comes with complete car cover,

Engine: The original engine is correct with numbers from car’s history (29D-RU-H/6608), this 6 cylinder 2912cc or 177.7cid inches has a long stroke for very strong compression, this set up has the original dual SU type HD6 2” sidedraft carburetors, these carburetors have just been set with the guide books from British Leyland by a top specialist, with the compression test at 160 to 166 lbs in a dry, cold reading (LINK), the tune is completed with an experience tech setting the distributor that is essential in the running of this fine, fine engine, the valve cover is painted and detailed, when pulled the valves are set, the proper radiator is fresh, the final road test completed, then full engine detail with proper colors, 

Transmission: 4-speed transmission works as it should, has the top 3 synchronized gears, proper internal shift unit, inside shift handle, has the desirable working overdrive, the aluminum cased transmission shows the original casting numbers, the overdrive unit is filled with 70-90 lb gear oil and just topped off, this work is receipted with lots of expert time to make sure this drives exceptionally for open top driving enjoyment,

Cooling has been with the radiator is taken out and sent to a reworked by a specialist, then installed with pressure test,  fresh upper and lower hoses, radiator new bolts, then fresh coolant added, all the hoses are in fine shape, the top radiator shroud is painted factory color and added to the top of the radiator to complete the air flow, the front inner dual fluting for the air flow is correctly done, this shows the addition to detail,

UNDERCHASSIS, here the value of this 1960 Austin Healey is confirmed by the terrific floors and supports, the condition is very original, not molested, this chassis and frame has been first carefully cleaned, (SEE LINK) the very solid frame primed and painted, then detailed with body color paint for top driven show condition,  when the work was accomplished for Christmas 2011 as part of the restoration process, this final painting brought out an exceptional chassis,  the springs are good, new kingpins and other suspension work along with the excellent alignment made this easy to drive,

The interior features a new, fully restored biscuit leather bucket seated interior in top condition, the front seats are redone with new padding as factory, the rear jump seats are also done along with the fold down rear valence, note that this has the original door panels redone, it is hard to find like this, the original working tachometer and all gauges are working, a proper biscuit dash with correct trim is in excellent condition, the chrome bezels around the gauges look terrific, has an aftermarket radio, nice red carpet is prepared in extremely nice condition, has new windshield post rubbers, proper door jamb rubbers, striker plates set correctly,

the exterior paint has a terrific luster, this is a gorgeous fresh Colorado Red paint, the sides are very straight, as this paint was just professionally buffed (SEE LINK), the BRIGHT luster is just wonderful, the chrome through is terrific,  note the chrome side window belt molding that is well done, the final professional detailing with first class materials used, the fender stainless piping is nicely down, has ‘great eyes’, no rust has been found, sides straight as an arrow, the Biscuit top is in very nice condition, good black boot, full proper spare with believed original spare tire – Dunlop 5P41/34094, 165-15 SP, no DOT numbers exist – too old, correct trunk mat, the 60 spoke chrome wire wheels look fantastic, these dated wheels (SEE LINK) are 5 ½ x 15”, 165x15 Michelin tires, the alignment is completed, the spare is a spoke wire wheel original detailed, (LINK) the tire is the believed original Dunlop SP41/34094 with no DOT code stamping, has the jack assembly, hammer and correct trunk floor mats, the chrome bumpers are very nice and in driven show condition with bumper guards front and rear, windows work well, all seals, even the wipers work, the battery cut off in trunk works as it should,

Suspension has fresh front discs that have numbered parts that show to be correct and were done relatively recently with over 90% pad life, full check of the braking system shows the rear drums were turned and the rear brake cylinders and shoes new for Christmas 2011, system bled, road tested, car is level, coils on front and rear leafs, new sway bar bushings, new kingpins and detailed end links just installed with receipts, (SEE LINK),

SUMMARY:  Road & Track called the Healey 3000 an enthusiast’s sports car that is “fun to drive and good handling”, it will have its devotees long after production has ceased”, that is a true fact, with a car weight of only 2465 lbs, this was an amazing sports car of the era with good and very spirited performance, many people consider the early lighter weight Austin Healey 3000s without the roll up window and the larger bumpers as the best of the English sports cars, some of the past sales have been a 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 MKI BT7 Sports Convertible at the 2007 Monterey Sports & Classic Car Auction presented by RM Auctions, where it sold for $71,500, full tune and road test for Christmas 2011, here is a 1960 Austin Healey BT7 3000 MKI that has a worldwide market of collectors who appreciate its fantastic design lines, parts are very accessible that yields a vehicle that can be enjoyed both mechanically and cosmetically for many years,  all correct colors, the road test is done for performance in the final preparation, believed low 51,375 miles, $54,950
