Smith with the rare color and full equipment, this car has all the correct grease markings, factory stickers under the hood, striping on underchassis, this is really brand new throughout both mechanical and cosmetically, full restoration to very high standards, note that this car has been so carefully kept for many years, the chassis #9F02R482653 shows approximately 15,900 miles, possible this could be (but we can not state for sure) the original mileage, in answer to the question about colors that are not listed in the initial Ford Shelby literature, Carroll Shelby said in the December 1998 MUSTANG MONTHLY that "We didn't make up a bunch of brochures each week. We changed things every week! If I wanted to run a different color or somebody saw a color that Ford had and wanted to run some, we just ran them. We did want we wanted to pretty well...I'd rather drive a '68, '69 or a '70", has sport mirrors, great looking black deluxe interior, armrest, gorgeous wood correct tilt fully restored steering wheel, this piece is most valuable, all working gauges as tachometer, ammeter, the AM-FM radio works, automatic (U, C-6), rare factory air conditioning, rare full smog equipped, 'S' tube, after this car was prepared by Fraser Dante the first time, it went to a Dallas, Texas show where is won First Place, Here is the email from the collector in Dallas to show the excellent history of this rare car, "Just and update on the 1969 GT500. All 3 of my cars won awards at the Yellow Rose Classic all Ford Show in Fort Worth Texas last weekend. The Shelby won its class for 1969-1970 Shelby's and it also won best in show! "; here is car is show with Chip Foose (SEE LINK), after that point, the collector decided he wanted the engine rebuilt to better than factory standards, the engine is a 428 cid Cobra Jet rated at 335 horsepower although it had closer to 400 horsepower, heads are the date coded correct 427 low riser with special larger valves, rounded combustion chambers, these heads make this 428cid engine breath exceptionally well, this engine has been rebuilt by Keith Craft Racing, everything is stock except for roller cam and rockers, bringing the dyno numbers to nothing short of impressive, this effort was accomplished to make sure the engine and heads were protected and the engine runs exceptionally, at that time the transmission was been redone as has the suspension, brakes, A/C and heater, even the rim blow is redone, note that with expert work in the restoration that includes full tune, oil, filter, fluids and fresh spark plugs, Don Wilmot from the well known restorer Vintage Mustangs has also helped with the credentials of this car, the VIN of the engine is found with small mirrors on the back of the heads, although these numbers are hard to read, we believe they are correct, this is most unusual to have this big block with the correct heads and engine, most of the big blocks do not usually have VIN numbers for Ford, great credentials on this car, the carburetor is a Holley 735 4v, date coded correct and rebuilt, proper inspection stickers on the detailed engine compartment, correct dual exhaust system, correct air induction with orange and natural air filter that is expensive, Summer 2005, important to note again that the full smog and pollution is part of the engine package, this equipment is rare as most people threw this away, again, this is before the receipt full engine rebuild, the car is set for trailered show conditions while making sure proper systems work, again…note that this very famous 428cid engine was rated at 335 horsepower and 440 pounds of torque, this is a most powerful engine and many believe these figures to be underrated, this car and engine are fully detailed, factory automatic transmission with transmission cooler, has the 3.00:1 rear end numbers that show, correct factory Magnums that are the only wheel that is offered for this car, these correct wheels are the 15x7 design with 5 spokes and an aluminum centers, numbers show as 060-198 F70x15 tires correctly mounted and freshly balanced, the correct collapsible spare is in the trunk, has the jack and handle, in a effort to bring this to the highest driving standards, one could chose to use a modern radial B.F.Goodrich tire should they chose, in the restoration, the dealer installed rear sports slats from the Boss models were added, this practice was often done in this period by the dealers that added to the aggressive appearance of the car, if desired, they could simply be removed but they look great, this is a wonderful original colored paint that is called Grabber Orange 'H' is the same color of the Boss 302 and the 429 car that is so desirer able, the color is most unusual and very pretty, the body and paint are in fantastic condition, all the quarters and floors of exceptionally well, all of the tune work and air conditioning work upgraded to 134a was just checked by a top professional, this extensive work takes great expertise, has a FOMOCO radiator, note that the heater core is not installed in the dash above the passenger footwell, this is done to stop any question of the green radiator coolant to leak on the inside of the car, the original door tag shows all the correct numbers on this car, the center console is also original and in fine condition, the correct ammeter and oil pressure gauges are in place and work as they should, a wonderful full driver package of automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes with front discs, note that THE BRAKE PADS ARE BRAND NEW, all the brake lines under the chassis are new and detailed, great
